Inauguration of the Musée départemental de Flandre

"This is a great day for Cassel, a great day for the Nord and a great day for all those who live here," exclaimed Bernard Derosier, President of the Nord County Council, at the inauguration of the new Musée départemental de Flandre in Cassel on Friday 22nd October.

Bought by the Département in 1997, the Hôtel de la Noble-Cour had to stay closed for ten years for safety reasons. Entirely renovated after two years of work, this Flemish architectural heritage gem, listed as a historical monument, now houses "the first and only museum to be entirely given over to shedding light on the wealth of Flemish cultural and artistic identity," in Derosier’s words.
